The Computer Science Honor Society at Woodland High School was chartered in 2020. We encourage enthusiasm for computer science and promote and recognize academic excellence and service among high school computer science students. Started by CodeVA initially to serve Virginia teachers and with the help of CSTA, CSHS now manages this project with 160 other CSHS’s across the country.

All high schools that offer computer science classes are eligible to start and maintain a chapter, under the guidance of a faculty advisor. Students must meet academic requirements in computer science classes and complete service hours to augment the computer science education they receive in their schools.In addition to chapter opportunities, members receive a personalized Computer Science Honor Society membership certificate and official society pin, and are eligible to apply for a graduation cord.

This is a faith based school organization that meets once a week on Wednesday mornings to help each other grow in our Christian walk. We have guest speakers from within the school, as well as outside youth Pastors and coach's that speak to the group. Our FCA group does community service projects both within the Stockbridge community and areas surrounding. We seek to show others the love of God through action and speech. Although the groups title includes "athletes", not all students that participate play sports. This is open to any student at WHS who would like to attend and participate.

This is not a mandatory club and is the free will of anyone who chooses to come. We hope to shine a light to those around us, beginning in our school and reaching out. Our group also has events such as flag football and soccer games as well as concerts.

Each meeting consists of singing (led by students), a speaker/lesson, and prayer. We normally meet on Wednesday mornings at 7:40.

The International Thespian Society (ITS) is a worldwide honor society for students involved in theatre and performing arts programs. Founded in 1929, ITS recognizes and celebrates excellence in the field of theatre by promoting high standards of workmanship, scholarship, and character among its members.

Membership is based on a point system, which students earn by

participating in various theatrical productions,
attending theatre workshops,
enrolling in theatre courses,
and engaging in other related activities.

The society offers opportunities for students to network, learn, and showcase their talents through conferences, festivals, and competitions. ITS also provides scholarships and other forms of recognition to its members who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in theatre and performing arts.

Mock Trial

Club Description:

Mock Trial is a competition in which students participate in a simulated trial. The case alternates between a civil and a criminal case every year. The case is entirely fictional, taking place in a fictional county. Teams consist of six to ten members, but only six compete at any given time - 3 attorneys and 3 witnesses. These six people will face six other people from a different school. Teams must prepare both sides of the case (prosecution/plaintiff and defense) for every competition.

Since 1988, teams from many of Georgia's public and private high schools, as well as several home school associations, have participated in the Georgia High School Mock Trial Competition. Coached by volunteer attorneys and teachers, teams of students work together to prepare their presentations from case materials provided by the High School Mock Trial Committee.

About:

The National History Honor Society (NHHS) recognizes students dedicated to the pursuit of history. Members further explore the field of history and celebrate the past throughout the year.

Requirements:

The minimum requirements to receive a NHHS invitation are:

· Currently a Junior or Senior

· Students maintaining an unweighted 3.5 GPA in Honors/AP History classes

· Overall cumulative unweighted 3.5 GPA

· Minimum of 3 AP/Honors History classes

· 2 Recommendations by AP and/or Honors’ teachers

ONE Recommendation can be completed by NHHS advisor, Ms. Kendall. If not taught by an NHHS advisor, two recommendations from other AP or Honors teachers. If an issue arises, please see Ms. Kendall

Additional requirements should you be invited to join NHHS:

· NOT miss MORE than 2 meetings/scheduled activities this school year! To be determined at a later date. If you miss a third meeting, you will be removed from NHHS.

· Pay Annual Dues

· Attend Induction Ceremony

· Participate in one NHHS fundraising project during the year.

· Complete a minimum of 10 community service hours per semester.
